Encompass 5 readers are suitable for use in non-toll applications with less demanding performance requirements such as airport parking, airport ground transportation management systems, rail, and ITS applications. The Encompass 5, unlike the Encompass 6, is a read only reader and is performance tested for lower speeds applications.
However, the Encompass 5 shares many of the same features as the Encompass 6 including:
- Integrated enclosure containing reader and RF module
- Ethernet (IP) or serial communications
- Monostatic antennas
- Multi-tag reading
- Group select
- Standard time-division multiplexing (TDM) using standard TDM cabling or optional global positioning system (GPS) timing
- Optional multiple antenna multiplexing
- Optional check tag system testing.
- Optional antennas supporting both overhead and side-fire mounting
- Optional NEMA enclosure
- Optional digital I/O
