Technical Questions
Why can't I see my own postings?
You do not see your own postings as a result of a search on DAT Connect.com. We have done this deliberately to prevent confusion. To see your own postings, go to the List Postings page.

Why am I not receiving any calls in response to my posting?
The problem could involve several issues. It could be that your account information is inaccurate. Take a careful look at the My Account Settings page to see that your phone numbers are correct. Alternately, it could be that you made a mistake on the posting, misspelled a name, chose the wrong city that appears multiple times in one state, or accidentally selected a very specialized piece of equipment. If this is the case, update your posting with the correct information. It could be that the posting is so old that other users are ignoring it. In this case, simply updating the posting with no changes gives it a new time stamp. If everything is correct, try adding some comments to the posting that make it stand out. If you are posting a load, you could try sending it to a few of the local truck stops where it could catch the eye of an independent driver or owner/operator. You can also try a reverse search, which tells you if anyone has made postings that match your needs.

How will I know if I have an Alarm Match?
The status of Alarm Matches displays in the Alarm Match window, along with the number of matches generated by the alarm. At the time match is returned, you also receive an audible notification. If you choose, DAT Connect.com also sends you an email if a load or truck is posted that meets the criteria on your posting. If you have email notification turned on, you receive an email alert when the Alarm Match expires (after 2 hours or 25 matches). If you do not receive any email notifications, please check the email address on the My Account Settings page. It is possible that your address was incorrectly entered into the system.

What are zones?
We have divided the country into ten zones, ranging from 0 - 9, to make it easier to perform wide area searching and posting. For example, a carrier may have a truck available in Detroit, MI that needs to return to the west coast. This user can post the truck with a specific origin, and then pick zones 8 and 9 for the destination. This is far easier than listing the individual states of Washington, Oregon, California, Idaho, Wyoming, Nevada, Utah Colorado, Arizona, and New Mexico. These same zones can also be used also when searching the database.

If I post to a truck stop, how long will it be visible on the load monitor?
It remains visible on the load monitor for as long as your load posting is active. In other words, 24 hours (72 hours on the weekend when posted on Friday) or until you delete the posting.
What will my load posting look like on the monitor?
The information sent to the load monitors includes the equipment type, origin, destination, company name, telephone number, and any comments. Partial loads are indicated with a P. If you select the highlighting option, the load is posted with an asterisk, to denote that it is urgent. If you select the flashing option, the whole line flashes on and off to grab the attention of the onlooker.

Why is it that some cities in your directory have more than one entry?
Often, there is more than one city or town with the same name in the same state. For example, there are three Centervilles in Massachusetts. In order to distinguish among them, we ask you to choose the right one based on the county or zip code. Another example is when a city name is the first word of another city name within the same state. For example, if you type in Chicago, IL, you are asked to choose among Chicago Ridge, Chicago Heights, and Chicago. .

Why must I now enter a deck length and weight on a load posting?
It is very costly and inefficient for a carrier to respond to a posting without knowing what size truck is required. If the length and weight are not included in the posting, you are likely to waste a good deal of time and effort responding to inquiries that could have been avoided. It is better for all participants, if you make the effort to accurately describe your requirements up front.

What is the radius and how does it work?
Here is an example. Suppose you have a truck in San Francisco that you would like to bring back to the southeast. Use DAT Connect.com to search for a load that originates close to San Francisco. The number you enter in the radius field represents the distance you are willing to deadhead to pick up that load - say 100 miles. Our computer draws a circle with a radius of 100 miles around San Francisco and picks out loads that originate within that circle. The result is a quick, effective gauge of what is available in the area. In this case, it could be a load from Modesto, CA, to Tupelo, MS, because Modesto is within the 100-mile circle. The radius does not take into account the physical terrain or availability of roads in the area.

Why do I have leads in my Search Results that are not available when I click on the TAKE button?
The Search Results page shows you a snapshot of what was available at the instant you performed the search. As the page gets older, it is more and more likely that postings that existed at the time of the search have subsequently been deleted. If you start to have this problem, go back to the SEARCH page and re-run the search.
Note: If you refresh the SEARCH Results page, DAT Connect.com updates the time stamp of the postings and removes any deleted ones, but it does not show you any new postings that have arrived since the time of the first search.
Why is it that when I repeat a search some of the postings are missing the second time around?
Postings that have expired, been deleted by their owner, or that you have previously taken are not displayed. When you TAKE a lead, DAT Connect.com notes that fact and does not show it to you again on any subsequent search. Go to the View Leads page to look at leads you have already seen and that are still active.

Why do I get different mileage from different sources for the same source and destination?
Verify the City, State and County the source and destination are in. Often times a State will have multiple cities with the same name but in different counties and very different parts of the state, this can cause the results for mileage mapping to seem random. Example: Dalton, GA (Whitfield County) and Dalton GA (Madison County). Both are approximately 90 miles from Atlanta, GA, but Whitfield is to the Northwest of Atlanta and Madison is to the North East, this can cause a drastic difference in mileage. This can also effect search results if the wrong County is selected. If you think you are experiencing this type of issue and would like assistance in verify the information please contact Technical Support at 800-547-5417.
