High Occupancy Tolling

High Occupancy Tolling (HOT)

High occupancy tolling is a spin-off of electronic toll collection. It is also a concept that is rapidly gaining favor with transportation agencies and planners as it allows them to make better use of the often underutilized high occupancy vehicle (HOV) or carpool lanes. With high occupancy tolling, single occupant vehicles (SOVs) can drive on them for a fee. TransCore is the first company in the country to implement a variable pricing program for expanded use of HOV lanes.

Variable Pricing

Open road tolling gives toll authorities the flexibility to set variable pricing for toll services. Pricing types would include premiums or discounts based on the time of day and congestion level. Variable pricing models can be pre-established, or modified in real time, responding to existing traffic situations.

TagTeller™

TagTeller makes electronic toll collection more convenient and accessible to toll patrons. The patented TagTeller is an ATM-like device that dispenses radio frequency identification (RFID) transponders and provides customers with automated account management functions 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It is available as a stand-alone kiosk, wall-mounted, or drive-up unit. The TagTeller also supports universal acceptance of worldwide currency.
