SmartWatch® SmartTrace™ combines Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) technology to meet the demanding needs for container tracking, sealing, and monitoring of high value content containers, particularly in maritime applications. With a vision to meet the security and information needs of the supply chain of the future, TransCore has combined electronic seal, GPS/satcom, and other technologies, to provide a highly reliable Container Tracking and Monitoring Unit (CTMU) packaged in heavy-duty enclosure to withstand the harsh demands of maritime shipping.
A National Freight Tracking System (NFTS) will enhance security through AVI-based data collection and can benefit commercial operations via rapid processing and cost-saving management tools. NFTS will track intermodal freight movements in real-time by upgrading the present system and integrating other technology.
NFTS can combine AVI with electronic seals, which would provide data showing when a container was last opened. The system will provide location and seal-status information throughout the entire chain of custody. This will give personnel primary screening capability to know who, what, where, when, and how a container was shipped and whether it was opened illegally. The enhanced tracking data improves asset management, customer service, and support of just-in-time objectives.
