Border Crossing

Border security solution isolates higher-risk, unknown vehicles & passengers

Using TransCore’s SmartWatch® SecureBorders application pre-screened, authorized border commuters may enroll in the Secure Electronic Network for Travelers Rapid Inspection (SENTRI) program, which began in 1995. Using AVI tags, border-crossing commuters use tag-only designated commuter lanes (DCL) at ports of entry at San Ysidro, California, Otay Mesa, California, El Paso, Texas, and Laredo, Texas.

SENTRI enables federal security personnel to identify frequent, low-risk commuters. The AVI tag and reader system identifies each vehicle, driver, and approved passengers to ensure only authorized vehicles and matching drivers cross the border. SENTRI saves time for commuters and enables agents to focus on higher-risk, unknown vehicles and passengers.
